This privacy policy explains how Credia Limited, trading as Lenny (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, discloses, stores and protects personal information. We comply with the Privacy Act 2020 (“Act”) when dealing with personal information. Personal information is information about an identifiable individual (a natural person).
You are not required to provide the personal information that we request but, if you choose not to, in many cases we will not be able to provide our services.
What personal information do we collect?
We may collect personal information about you, either directly from you or from other persons. The types of personal information we collect about you may include:
- your contact information; for example your phone number, email address, postal address, residential address;
- your residency status (e.g. citizen, permanent resident, resident);
- employment information;
- financial information including details of your income assets and liabilities;
- copies of documents that verify your identity, date of birth and other personal details such as your passport or drivers licence;
- bank account transactions including information on account conduct such as dishonours, reversals, unarranged overdrafts;
- your credit history and credit score including the length of your credit file, payment histories, number of unpaid defaults;
- information about the device you use to access the website or other social media sites, such as IP address, browser type, time zone settings and mobile network information.
Updates
We may update this policy by uploading an updated version to our website. The updated policy will apply from the date we make it available on our website.
How do we collect personal information?
We collect personal information about you directly from you, through our website and in other ways including through participation in any marketing campaign, competition or promotion run by us or our representatives.
We may collect bank account transaction information from your bank through the services of illion New Zealand Ltd. Information provided via Illion is subject to Illion’s privacy policy available here.
We obtain your credit score and information on your credit history credit score from Centrix Group Ltd, Equifax and / or Illion, credit reporting agencies. This does not affect your credit score unless you proceed with a loan application.
What do we do with your information?
We collect and use your personal information to provide the information and services that you request from us, and to provide you with information about other services we consider appropriate.
When necessary, we may also use your information:
- to provide our services to you;
- to respond to communications from you;
- to manage our relationship with you and for administrative and operational tasks;
- to assist in improving our services;
- to advertise services we or third parties offer;
- in connection with defending, protecting and/or enforcing our legal rights and interests including defending a complaint, claim or other action;
- to comply with our obligations at law (including under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 and related regulations) and to support us to engage with relevant regulators;
- for any other purpose authorised by you or the Act.
Who do we share your personal information with?
Besides our staff we may share your personal information with third parties who enable us to provide you with our services. These include:
- related companies who support us to provide our services;
- your other advisers (if relevant);
- the lenders (see our Disclosure for names of the lenders) in relation to loan applications we make to them on your behalf and assisting you with loans and you authorise them to conduct their own credit checks using the personal information we have shared;
- insurance providers from whom we source insurance products and services on your behalf including SBS Insurance Limited;
- illion New Zealand Ltd in relation to obtain bank account transactions;
- Centrix Group Ltd, Equifax NZ, and/or Illion New Zealand to obtain your credit score and your credit history;
- service providers who will assist us to provide our services including software suppliers, IT service providers, lawyers and accountants;
- lawyers and other professionals, and our insurers (and their advisers), in connection with defending, protecting and/or enforcing our legal rights & interests;
- any other person authorised by the Act or another law.
A business that supports provision of our services may be located outside New Zealand. This may mean that personal information is held and processed outside New Zealand.
How do we protect your personal information?
We will take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to keep your personal information safe from loss and from unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure.
What are my rights?

Cookies and other data storing technologies
We use cookies, mobile device IDs, and similar data storage technologies when you visit our website or app (Digital Platforms). Except as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law, we will retain your personal information only for as long as we believe is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which the personal information was collected, which is 7 years where you take a loan through Lenny.
We may, instead of destroying or erasing your personal information, make it anonymous, so that it cannot be associated with or tracked back to you.
How do we protect your personal information?
We will take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to keep your personal information safe from loss and from unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure.
Internet use
While we take reasonable steps to maintain secure internet connections, if you provide us with personal information over the internet, the provision of that information is at your own risk.
If you follow a link on our website to another site, the owner of that site will have its own privacy policy relating to your personal information. We recommend that the site’s privacy policy is reviewed before any personal information is provided.
Important Privacy Notice for Latitude Financial Service Limited
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: To the creditor, Latitude Financial Services Limited, P O Box 4058, Shortland Street, Auckland 1140 ("Latitude").
I/We understand there is no obligation to provide personal information, including biometric information, driver licence details, but if I/we fail to supply any information requested, or do not agree to any of the disclosures detailed in this acknowledgement, my/our application may not be accepted. I/We certify that all information contained in this application is true and correct, and where applicable, I have the permission of my spouse/partner to disclose his/her personal information.
Identity Verification
I authorise Latitude to collect my information and conduct an identity verification check to verify my identity and address as required under Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (AML/CFT Act). I understand that as part of this identity verification process, my biometric information (a selfie photo and a short selfie video) may be collected and compared to the photographic identity document provided to verify my identity against my claimed identity. Additionally, biometric information may be collected to counter identity fraud and minimise security risks, where applicable. I agree that this authority may be provided to an external identification service provider for the purpose of identity verification.
Credit Checks
I/We authorise Latitude to make all necessary enquiries and receive information concerning my/our credit rating, any outstanding fines, residence, employment and my/our identity from other credit providers, credit reporters, identity verification service entities, government agencies, employer, accountant, or other named persons, or relatives and, where applicable, to obtain such information relating to my/our driver licence(s) from NZ Transport Agency as is authorise by the Land Transport Act 1998, for the purpose of considering this application, the administration and protection of any credit provided and considering any future request for further finance on my account.
Sharing Information
I/we agree that this authority may be provided to such parties for these purposes. I also agree that my personal information may be shared with NZ Post, any Gem Visa merchant, or any other entity employed, engaged, or appointed by Latitude for the purpose of verifying my identity.
I/We understand that Latitude will give my/our personal information to credit reporters and that those credit reporters may hold the information on their systems and disclose it to authorised users of the credit reporters' services. I/we also understand that information about my creditworthiness and credit history may be disclosed to any credit provider named in a credit report relating to me/us.
Collecting Information
I/We acknowledge that if Latitude provides finance it may collect and monitor such personal information about me/us as is necessary for the administration and protection of such credit (including without limitation utilising any credit reporters monitoring services to receive updates if the information held about me/us changes), and may disclose repayment history information, details relating to my/our account, and any payment default information to credit reporters which may hold the information on their systems and disclose it to authorised uses of the credit reporters services. Latitude may also (if necessary) disclose my/our personal information to fraud reporting agencies and to any person Latitude may appoint to assist in enforcement of any agreement between Latitude and me/us.
Where my application is initiated via a broker website, I agree that my information may be shared with that merchant for the purpose of marketing its products and services.
I/We authorise Latitude and all of its related entities to share and use all personal information held about me/us now or in the future to offer me/us now or in the future to offer me/us further finance, to consider any future application of finance from me/us, and to offer or provide me/us with details of other products and services from time to time.
I/We agree that Latitude and its related entities may communicate with me/us via mail, email, or telephone (including SMS/MMS) for all purposes and understand that there may be security risks relating to the electronic transmission of information, and that Latitude cannot guarantee confidentiality.
The personal information will be held by Latitude. Where the personal information may readily be retrieved, I/we shall have access to it and the right to request correction.
If my/our application is approved, I/we consent to all disclosure documents required for the purpose of the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003 being sent either by mail or in electronic form. and by means of electronic communication (either by email or accessible from a website or by means of the Internet). I understand that if I withdraw this consent at any time, I may be required to pay a fee to cover the cost of providing paper statements
